Riverland’s Auto Program Receives Generous Donations with the help of Alumni

Riverland Community College in Albert Lea is experiencing a wave of generosity that is transforming its Automotive Service Technology program and ensuring that students have access to cutting-edge equipment and technology. The driving force behind this remarkable philanthropic effort is the support of dedicated alumni.

One of the donations came from Bosch’s Owatonna branch which contributed the Bosch ADAS calibration system (DAS 3000) and three Bosch scan tools (ADS 625X). The DAS 3000-1 ADAS Recalibration System is a comprehensive solution that allows students to learn how to recalibrate the cameras and radar systems of fully electric vehicles. This generous gift is valued at nearly $50,000 and will undoubtedly enhance the educational experience for automotive students at Riverland.

An alumnus of the program, Jeremy Harmer, played a pivotal role in securing this substantial donation from Bosch. His commitment to giving back to his former school and supporting the next generation of automotive technicians is truly commendable.

But the contributions don’t stop there. Dave Syverson, a well-known name in the area, has been an equally generous benefactor. Over the past three months he has donated eight vehicles, as well as engines and transmissions, to the college’s automotive program. These donations provide students with the opportunity to work on newer technology and gain hands-on experience with the kinds of vehicles they will encounter in the field.

Another alumnus, Genaro Duarte, has been a key player in facilitating these donations, further emphasizing the collaborative and supportive nature of the Riverland Community College community.

The impact of these donations goes beyond just the material value. They reflect the strong connection between the college and its former students, who are now thriving in the automotive industry. It’s a testament to the belief that investing in education and the next generation of professionals is a crucial step in advancing any field. Riverland Community College is incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated industry partners who are willing to give back and provide its students with the tools they need to succeed.

In a time when the automotive industry is rapidly evolving with advancements in electric and autonomous vehicles, these donations are not only generous but also essential for ensuring that Riverland’s automotive students receive the best possible education.
